What is a Prosthodontist? Prosthodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth. After completing 4 years of dental school, prosthodontists receive 3 years of specialized training in an ADA accredited graudate education program.
Prosthodontists have been called the architects of the mouth or the quarterbacks of dentistry. They can plan all aspects of dental treatment and direct other specialists in order to achieve a healthy, beautiful mouth. According to the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), they are "experts in recreating nature's balance."
